1. Plug the scanner into the computer. Make sure there is a light on the scanner when you press the trigger. If not, try a different port. (Some USB hub devices may not have enough power)

  2. Note: If the bar code scanner has worked with Insight before you don't need this step.

    Use the configuration documents provided by the manufacturer to set a prefix or preamble of the ~ symbol to every bar code scanned. We have some configuration bar codes set up for certain scanners. They can be found under the Help
    button in Insight.
  3. Be sure bar codes are saved in Insight under the Retail Products screen. They can be scanned from the product container into this box.
  4. Test by scanning the bar code into the Sales screen.
